    Frequently Asked Questions

Q.   Is childcare available at the monthly meetings?

A.   Yes, with a reservation.  We will try to accommodate walk-ins as space allows.  For the 2009-20010 year, the cost is $3 for the first child and $2 for each additional child, with a maximum cap of $7 per family.  For more information go to http://www.gcsmomsleague.org/childcareinformation/

Q.   Can I just join a playgroup without becoming a Mom's League member?

A.  Sorry, but membership is required to participate in playgroups.  We encourage everyone to get involved in our other varied activities also.  We have activities that range from Ladies' Night Out to Community Service.

Q.   What activities does your organization offer?

A.   Each month there are a variety of activities available to choose from.  There are moms-only get togethers, children’s events, and family outings.  There are also community service activities and “moms helping moms” opportunities throughout the year.

Q.   Is GCS Mom's League open to men?

A.   Absolutely!

Q.   Do you offer any activities without kids?

A.   Yes.  Every month there are several “moms-only” events offered, including Bunco, Craft Club, Ladies Night Out and Book Club.

Q.   Are there any events my husband can attend also?

A.   Yes.  In addition to frequent Couples' Nights Out, each month there is an event that involves the whole family.  These include the annual Pumpkin Patch visit in October and the children's holiday parties.

Q.   I work outside of the home. Do you offer any evening or weekend activities?

A.   Approximately half of the events offered each month are during the evening or on the weekend.

Q.   I am a new mom. Can you help me with resources focused on family and children?

A.   Our web page http://www.gcsmomsleague.org/resources/ offers several links to useful websites with information about GCS and the surrounding area with regard to families.   At http://www.gcsmomsleague.org/helpfulinformation/article.nhtml?uid=10002, you will find a list of kids-eat-free restaurants.  Members also have access to our Member Chat Site for specific questions open to the organization’s members.

Q.   If I join in the middle of the school year, do I have to pay the full membership fee?

A.   No. The membership fee is pro-rated throughout the year, so you only pay for the remaining months left in the active year.

Q.   What months of the year do you meet?

A.   Our active months are September through May.  We take a summer break during the months of June, July and August.

Q.  Do you offer any “Drop off the kids” events?

A.   No. All of our activities are moms-only or family events.  Other than the monthly general meeting where there is childcare available for a fee, you must be present and responsible for your own children at all events.

Q.   How do I join?

A.   Go to http://www.gcsmomsleague.org/nss-folder/membershipforms/, print out the Membership Enrollment Form, fill it out and mail it with a check for the appropriate dues (based on the calendar month).  The mailing address is listed at the bottom of the form.  Then join us for the next event.

Q.   What if I am interested, but not ready to join?

A.   You are welcome to attend up to two events and/or one meeting in order to get to know us before deciding whether you would like to join the organization.

Please e-mail any other questions to the GCS Moms League President.
